Whine and Dine, Sep 4

September 4, 2012

About the road rides

The plan is for three options, all will be social, all climb hills. Tweener M option will do some easy sixes, and may try some harder fives at an M pace. QS option may do very challenging hills at a quicker M to MB pace. The Mellow LM option will not do anything steeper than a four.

Mellow LM riders are expected to ride together at the pace of theslowest rider on the Mellow LM ride with all riders being rested at regroups.

Route sheets provided on-line, on the blog, and a few on the ride. Meet at Summit Bikes, Main Street in Los Gatos, across the street from the Los Gatos Library. Rain or intense heat cancels. Burritos after. Be there around six-ish (I get off work at 5,) we roll around then. Typically another cyclist will lead the Quick Spinners option.

Please print a route sheet if you want one!

About the road rides

The plan is for two options, both will be social. Mellow option will do some easy sixes, and may try some harder fives at an LM-M pace. QS option may do very challenging hills at a quicker M to MB pace. Route sheets provided on-line, on the blog, and a few on the ride. Meet at Summit Bikes, Main Street in Los Gatos, across the street from the Los Gatos Library. Rain or intense heat cancels. Burritos after. Please print a route sheet if you want one!

Mellow Option

Shannon-Hicks-Kennedy
You have not lived until you have done it backwards. So, this ride is Kennedy/Shannon + Hicks only backwards! This is a good ride with a very hard option! It can be easy or very hard, depending on how it is ridden. Typically this ride will be various paces. I will not be climbing all of Hicks. Some of the hard core riders may want to do all of Hicks and maybe even more! Note the route sheet lists the climb to the top of Hicks but this day’s ride turns around at the switchback where the hard climb starts. The rest of Hicks as an option. If you want to do the option be prepared for a longer and a challenging ride. We will not be there for the option, so please plan to do it with a buddy!

Quick Spinner Option

Quarry Redwood Gulch
Quarry / Redwood Gulch 24.5 m, 2100 ft (aprox) with some very steep climbing.

Mountain Bike Ride

“Due to my work commitments, I have asked Richard Holtermann to lead the WnD MTB ride from April 24th to July 3rd. I will be there when I can.  Enjoy the trails, Tyler  4/23/12”

Kennedy-Shannon and Half Hicks
This is Kennedy-Hicks-Shannon. A very pretty ride that is not over-the-top. But, it has VERY strenuous options!

Be Green, Print Your Own Route Sheet (when they are available)

I am only printing a few route sheets to conserve paper. Riders are encouraged to print your own route sheets before the ride. This is the only way you can be sure to get a route sheet. I am tired of wasting so much paper.

About the Mellow Ride Routes

Tue 2010 Whine and Dine Mellow (aka Pansy) Ride
6:00 PM ish 12-20 mi, 3-6 (yes that is six) LM-M Billy Goats = Various!

My philosophy about this ride is that we have a short amount of time on Earth, so why not stop and smell the roses. Expect at several regroups and nobody (who can ride an LM pace) to be left behind. We will eventually do most of the goats in the Los Gatos area, just not too many at a time. Both rides are social. We will do some easy sixes, and may try some harder fives. Route sheets provided on-line on the blog and a few on the ride. Meet at Summit Bikes on Main Street in Los Gatos, across the street from the Los Gatos Library. Rain or intense heat cancels. Burritos after. Be there around six-ish (I get off work at 5,) we roll around then.

Quick Spinner Ride

Peggggy is subbing for Ted. Peggggy wrote, “I’m leading the QS ride for Teddy this week. I’ll do the same route (Kennedy-Shannon and Half Hicks), with Hicks. I think we may still have a few folks who are deciding between Mellow and QS so it’s probably good to keep the routes the same for the first few weeks.”

Mountain Bike Ride

Tyler is leading this ride. The Wine and Dine mountain bike rides started on Tuesday 4/5/11. Tyler wrote to, “encourage you to come out Tuesday to enjoy the fun. 6:00 PM at Summit Bikes.”
