Mellow Routes
- The Bullwinkle Ride
- The traditional first and last ride of the Whine and Dine season. This is also a short ride and is good for times when weather is an issue.
- Cactus Garden Ride
- This is a fun ride to a really interesting place. Pam found this really cool cactus garden at an estate located in Saratoga.
- Kennedy-Shannon and Half Hicks
- This is Kennedy-Hicks-Shannon. A very pretty ride that is not over-the-top. But, it has VERY strenuous options!
- Kennedy/Shannon with half or whole Hicks, Reynolds, Loma Almaden options
- Cafeteria Style Ride; This mellow bike ride is cafeteria style. It has four options, ranges from Super Mellow to OMG. This ain’t no pansy ride! Mix-em, match-em or ride-em all if you dare.
- The Lollipop Ride
- Kathy Buck first led this ride once when I was gone. It has a fun ride with twists, turns but I think no rated goats. Try it, you’ll like it! [Map of ride]
- Mt. Eden/Pierce
- 24 miles, 4LM, 1522 Feet of climbing, an ambitious ride for a mellow ride, usually saved for the almost longest riding day of this season! We will leave on-time and will keep to pace. “This is the big one Elizabeth!” Be prepared for a longer and a bit of a challenging ride.
- Reynolds and Shannon/Kennedy, 5 LM/M
- This is Shannon-Hicks/Reynolds-Kennedy. A fun and challenging climb. Be prepared, this is a serious climb!
- Sanborn “Classic” Version
- Sanborn, be prepared for serious climbing! This is a six, yes a six! This is the one six we do on the mellow ride. It is a very pretty ride and a good workout.
- Shannon-Hicks-Kennedy
- You have not lived until you have done it backwards. So, this ride is Kennedy/Shannon + Hicks only backwards! This is a good ride with a very hard option! It can be easy or very hard, depending on how it is ridden. Typically this ride will be various paces. I will not be climbing all of Hicks. Some of the hard core riders may want to do all of Hicks and maybe even more! Note the route sheet lists the climb to the top of Hicks but this day’s ride turns around at the switchback where the hard climb starts. The rest of Hicks as an option. If you want to do the option be prepared for a longer and a challenging ride. We will not be there for the option, so please plan to do it with a buddy!
- Villa Montalvo Ojai Short Option
- This route can be bit confusing for the directionally challenged (like me.) It takes cyclists up Villa Montalvo, Peach Hill and Ojai.
Quick Spinner Routes
- Hicks in Reverse
- This routes takes riders over Kennedy, Shannon and via Camden to the New Almaden side of Hicks.
- Quarry Redwood Gulch
- Quarry / Redwood Gulch 24.5 m, 2100 ft (aprox) with some very steep climbing.
- Saratoga Six
- 24 miles with 2100 feet of climbing, this ride touches on Pierce, Mt. Eden, Quito and Highway 9.
Rides that start elsewhere (not Los Gatos Summit Bikes)
Rides from Camden & Almaden Expressway
- Bernal, Bailey, Bandit Ride
- A little loop, a good workout. Up the bandit side of Bernal, down the other side, down, up and over Bailey and return.
- Bernal Bandit, Via Santa Teresa and Scenic Vista option
- This ride features a Bernal “Bandit” ride as well as Via Santa Teresa and an optional grunt up Scenic Vista (& return to Via Santa Teresa).
Coleman and Winfield Park and Ride
- Whine and Dine Metric Century Number 1
- A fun metric, our first metric. This metric century bicycle ride goes to Gilroy and back, with wine tasting options along the way. Please see Expectations for Special and Longer Rides (below).
- The First Ever Whine and Dine Full Century
- This is an extension of Metric Century number one. It’s a 100 mi 3 LM/M to Hollister and Return. Please see Expectations for Special and Longer Rides (below).
Expectations for Special and Longer Rides
- Please do not come on the ride expecting to be accommodated if you have plans to be back at a certain time later in the day. Most of these rides are planned as social day-long events. We do plan to be back by dark. We plan on multiple breaks and regroups. If you need to be back early please make your own plans to do so.
- Please look at the route sheet and decide before the ride if that is a route you want to follow. The route is the route and if you want to follow another route please make your own plans to do so.
