This week; two rides and a hike possible
Record breaking heat may lead some to consider options
There was going to be two options to Sanborn this week. But, there is only one currently being offered. I have to cut back a bit due to the heat, bad air etc. I will not be leading the Quick Spinners ride, we may elect a QS leader at the start of the ride. I will be leading the mellow option.

Latest Update: Mountain Bike Ride Canceled Today
But, so far, the road rides are on even if there is heat and smoke!
Tue Jul 8 09:15:38 PDT 2008 – Tyler said, “I don’t plan to be there for mountain biking tonight. I think it will be too uncomfortable.”
The Tuesday Whine and Dine road rides will still go on as planned.
There will actually be the two road rides, plus a possible hiking option (unable to confirm) for those who do not want to pedal. Folks who do not feel up to the faster longer road rides, or hard core riders who want to do the hard options to the mellow ride, may want to consider the mellow option. The mellow option is mostly shaded.
Be Green, Print Your Own Route Sheet
I am only printing a few route sheets to conserve paper. Riders are encouraged to print your own route sheets before the ride. This is the only way you can be sure to get a route sheet. I am tired of wasting so much paper.
Quick Spinners – Ted’s Excellent Adventure:
Sanborn, 6M 19 miles, 1700 ft (aprox)
This ride winds through a Monte Serena / Saratoga streets before dumping you on to 9 and Saratoga, then Sanborn (6) with a hill back to LG. Probably adds 3 miles and over 500 feet of climbing over going straight on Highway 9.
Mellow Ride – Kennedy, half Hicks and Shannon:
3 LM/M 17 mi +
This ride has some not so mellow Hicks and Loma Almaden options.
Shannon/Kennedy and half Hicks, other half Hicks and/or Loma Almaden Optional, 3LM, (5 and 6 M optional), [Route Sheet Here] This ride can be easy, or very hard, depending on how it is ridden. Today’s ride offers various paces and grades. The easier option offers Kenndy and Shannon (3) and the not too steep part of Hicks. If you want to do the hard options, you will need to shoot out of the gate to get all of Hicks in before dark. If that is not hard enough, very hard core riders choosing this ride may want to do all of Hicks (5) and maybe even Loma Almaden (6).
Note the route sheet lists the climb to the top of Hicks but this days ride mellow component turns around at the switchback before the hard climb starts. But, the rest of Hicks and Loma Almaden are “for credit” options. If you want to do the option(s) be prepared for a longer and a challenging ride. You may want to bring lights. This week you can be both studly and/or mellow! If you plan to be studly, please do it with a buddy!
